Vintage Christmas Sewing Course

The vintage Christmas sewing course is now well underway.  Course members have been doing a great job, using traditional sewing skills to make their own Christmas decorations and gifts.  The course kicked off last week with the group learning how to make a patch work Christmas stocking.  Some of the members had never used a sewing machine before and this acted as a good introduction to using one. 

The atmosphere was very merry this week as members were shown how to make felt Christmas decorations, using hand-stitched embroidery.  They were given a pattern to make a traditional stuffed bird decoration to hang on their Christmas tree.  All the members were very creative, mixing and matching colours.  The group then went to tinsel town decorating their birds with ribbons, beads, buttons, fabric paints and lace.  You can see their finished results below!
