Taking length to the Max 2011!
Not one to bare all in attempt to feel sexy, nor one to compromise style over substance, I feel that this year’s life saver, as well as key fashion item is definitely the maxi. Whether worn in the form of a dress, skirt or even pants, full length hemlines will unquestionably be infiltrating my wardrobe until the foreseeable future.
The main reason being is that they hide a multitude of sins! Unfortunately I haven’t been blessed with legs up to my armpits and the stature of a stick insect, so finding clothes to slim me down and elongate my body is usually a tall order (excuse the pun). Imagine my relief, then, when I embarked upon these floor skimming delights.
Obviously, as a ‘petite’ framed female, I was dubious at first, as I’ve read numerous articles warning those vertically challenged that maxi’s can drown a small frame, but I have to say they’re wrong! As long as I avoid busy prints and horizontal stripes, the world is my oyster.
The main maxi trend for S/S 2011 is sheer fabrics and muted tones. Chloe hit the nail on the head on the catwalk with their clean cut, feminine collection, where nude chiffon skirts took centre stage. Antipodium also incorporated this into their designs, creating an effortlessly feminine silhouette.
