Collette Costello  – Salford Company – News 2011

Collette Costello is a Salford based on-line fashion company, specialising in producing retro style fashion. I started my company in 2008 aged 26,  all the clothing we sell is designed by myself and manufactured by contractors in the U.K.

I won 1st place in Salford Business Start-Up awards in 2008, a cash prize of £2000 and an additional £2000 from the Princes Trust with this money I started the company.

You may have seen me taking part in many Salford events recently with a stall at Salford Food and Drinks Festival.  As a qualified fashion teacher I have hosted a number of dress-making courses at The Lowry centre in the craft shop “Pots and Paints”.  My fashion collection has also been sold in number of Boutiques including Junk Shop and Moo Boutique.

New for summer 2011 co-including with the release of my new fashion collection, I will be organising summer dressmaking sessions based here at my company studio in Salford.  The courses are designed to accommodate all levels of learners including beginners.  Sessions include week block bookings, great for teachers and students.  Weekly evening sessions, for after work fun.

During the sessions members will be taught to make one of our  retro style dresses, supplied with funky polka dot fabric and dressmaking pattern.  Members will leave with a dress to wear and a new skill.

Classes will be taught by me “Collette Costello”, an experienced and PGCE qualified fashion teacher.  I have worked in education for years teaching in establishments such as St Mary’s Primary School Eccles, Burnley College, Manchester City College (MANCAT) and most recently in the textiles and fashion department at Manchester Metropolitan University.

We are giving a Salford resident the chance to a place on one of our dressmaking courses, as a way of giving someone from Salford the chance to become involved and learn a new skill.
