New Fashion Trends for 2012 by Ruth Fuller gallery
It might still feel a bit wintery outside but soon it will be time to lock away those big woolly jumpers and get ready for the summer, and the spring/summer trends for this year look hot! Dolce and Gabbana have a gorgeous collection featuring bright colour clashes in tribal print patterns. The shapes are seductively feminine with classic vintage shapes, including high waisted floaty shorts and balconette bra tops. The trend is certainly eye-catching but possibly a bit daring to go all out. This is definitely a trend to look out for on the British high street.
Topshops spring summer collection featured an unusual mix of gold and patterns with simple almost sporty shapes. The sporty, clean cut, fashion trends were also featured in Victoria Beckham’s latest collection. This is certainly one to look out for this year, as last November Posh faced fashion royalty and won the British Fashion Awards. Her designs are sure to be seen on red carpets events around the country and it will influence many high street stores. Two very different trends to be entering the British shops, but whichever one is more suited to you, it seems it’s going to be a bright summer!
As well as colour pop fashion, 2012 is all about pop reunions. April brings with it the start of the Steps reunion tour, but also later this year there will also be the S Club 7 reunion tour. Everyone born in the 90′s must remember the cheesy lyrics and crazy dance moves…’Reach for the stars, Climb every mountain higher, Reach for the stars, Follow your heart’s desire, Reach for the stars, And when that rainbows shining over you, that’s when you’re dreams will all come true’.
Sorry if that is now stuck in your head all day! Let’s just hope they’ve updated their wardrobe a bit since last time they performed! But the most exciting reunion for 2012 has to be Girls Allowed with their 10 year anniversary tour. Not only will the girls; Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola, Sarah and Kimberley, be singing all their classics they are bound to have some brilliant fashion moments. They haven’t always got it right in the past but that’s mostly history. In particular with Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts, who have become style icons in their own right. Not only this, but Miss Cole is also launching her new designer shoe range this year into British shops.
It’s not only bands making a come-back; Aussie star and ex British X-factor host, Danni Minogue is returning to our TV screens as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent. With two yummy mummy’s on the panel will there be a fashion face off at the start of each show between Danni and Amanda? We will just have to wait and see!
Whatever 2012 brings I’m sure it will be a fantastic year!

Fashion Items for 2012- by Ash Mutton
If you’re finding yourself gifted with some Christmas money and Father Christmas didn’t quite deliver then be sure to invest your pennies wisely in 2012’s hottest trends. There’s nothing more satisfying than being able to say you were one of the first to own or wear something. Read on to ensure you’ll be saying this in the New Year with our list of 2012 must have styles. Think peacock feather colours mingled into your accessories and you’ll have the right idea. This jewelled colouring lends itself to art deco style shapes which complement 1920’s styles perfectly.
Check out this striking peacock feather coloured cocktail ring available at www.shopruche.com. Or if you’ve got a winter wedding to attend why not channel the jewel colouring into outfit with this emerald green headband from www.rocknrose.co.uk . If you need to brighten up a dull January outfit then this cute House of Harlow at necklace would do the job. Snap it up at www.asos.com. The next 2012 trend is for the brave and the bold, good news Minnie Mouse fans, its Polka Dot! This trend has already crept into 2011 as seen on Fearne Cotton and Kirsten Dunst in this gorgeous simple cut Top shop dress.

Taking inspiration from fifties styles, polka dots are making the biggest impression on just above the knee dresses to dresses with full length skirts. If you love fifties, you’ll be interested in tea-dress styles. This classy tea dress is available at Collette Costello, its polka dot collar and waist band give a nod to the polka dot trend if you’re looking for a more subtle spotty style. Perfectly complementing this fifties look is the next 2012 must-have, the fold-over clutch bag. This trend has been seen in python print (read on to find out why that’s so important) in Donna Karan’s Spring 2012 collection so however you style it, the fold-over clutch just oozes couture glamour. Check out these beautiful examples, from Mulberry and Clare Vivier.
The next upcoming style is the ever so subtly hinted to, snakeskin. 2011 saw an influx of all varieties of animal prints and while leopard print is set to remain as the main print, its snakeskin that’s slithered its way into many of 2012’s collections. Don’t feel like you have to undergo a moral dilemma for this trend as the majority of styles are simply snakeskin prints, not actual snakeskin. These stunning platform shoe boots from Dorothy Perkins are a combination of snakeskin and Victorian glamour, which is also set to impact 2012 styles so they tick all the right boxes.
If you really want to show off your snakeskin then this bold snakeskin print pencil skirt from Episode at House of Fraser makes a statement. Wear with blacks toned down accessories for maximum impact.
And there concludes our fashion forecast.
We wish you a happy and perfectly styled new year!
Thank You for Reading,
Best Wishes for 2012
From
Collette Costello
