Halifax – My Home Town

Reigning from my hometown of Halifax (Yes, the birthplace of the Halifax Bank) I have been brought up in very humble surroundings, which can be incredibly frustrating being a budding journalist like yours truly.  With Halifax being equidistant from Leeds and Manchester…..it’s very handy for shopping, but not exactly a hub of activity. So imagine my delight and awe when I flew the nest (for a brief period) and spread my wings, landing a mere 30 something miles away in Salford, to begin my journey into becoming a fully fledged journalist at its namesake university.

It was here where I discovered my passion for writing and my desire for becoming a features journalist grew. Previously I have written for newspapers and magazines, and now the lovely people at Collette Costello have given me the opportunity to contribute to their blog, where I can share my other passion, for FASHION, with you all.

Fashion and Glamour:

Like most girls, fashion is a major aspect of my life. It’s a subject that consumes most of my daydreams, desires…… and not to mention bank account! On down days it can be a quick pick-me-up and on up days it can make you feel a million dollars, Ok fat days not included, but there are always shoes and handbags to remedy those

Quintessential glamour seems to be one of the major fashion trends this season, which is great for those who don’t so much as flinch at donning a pair of stiletto’s for even the most mundaine of tasks, however, for me this is something that doesn’t come so naturally. My style, mostly through laziness, is much more on the tomboy side of the spectrum. Therefore, it probably comes as no surprise that I tend to lean towards designers like Burberry, Stella McCartney and Giles who bring a more understated glamour to the plate.

Vintage Shopping:

Having a keen eye for designer clothing but a budget that won’t stretch means that usually I find other means of keeping my look up to date and these usually include little gems found in vintage shops and flea markets. They’re a great way to find unique one-offs and are so cheap I usually end up going on a bit of a spree; yesterday I picked up a gorgeous peace sign ring for just a fiver! What a bargain.
