Must Have Item for 2011 – Flares are Back!!!!!

As the New Year begins, so does the start of a new season ahead. As spring emerges, the must have trends appear into the spotlight making the cold dull days a little bit more excepting.

Flirty Seventies Flares!

This season the must have item on every woman’s list should be a pair of flared trousers. This look resembles the free and flirty seventies creating nostalgia and a love for all things vintage. The flares can be worn paired with a classic white shirt and wedges for simple day time wear and colours can be incorporated to reflect the bright hues of summer. For the simpler look of the season, designer Derek Lam has incorporated this vision into his collection. And for brighter, bolder styles; Marc Jacobs has set the scene for a very seventies styled collection which brings the disco era back into full swing.

Bright Block Colours

Each season there is an iconic pair of trousers that are a must have and for this summer the flares will be that must have. The flares come in a variety of colours but if coloured or print trousers are not for you, then a denim alternative will be just as good.

When it comes to colour and print, less is more but this season there are no rules. Team your flares with bright citrus hues, colour blocking with contrasting accessories. For inspiration for this bold look, channel Jil Sander’s  bright and bold collection which has taken colour blocking to the extreme but in the most stylish way ever. If the look is too bright but still an inspiration, team a pair of bright flares with a plain neutral top to enhance the colour and incorporate with bolder accessories to keep the contrast.
